Hello! I’m from Puerto Rico and have never been to U.K. I’m still trying to find out the logistics of my trip. Is it difficult getting to the Festival from London?

Hi Angel, in the FAQ we tried to add all the possible ways to get very close to the festival site (Saxmundham train station) and we will organise buses from there to the festival site. Let us know if we can help furthermore.

Hello. I am from Japan. I’m arriving at Heathrow airport at 7:15am on August 4th. So I’m spending a night in London and moving to the venue next day. Where is the good place to stay in London? I prefer a reasonable guesthouse or something to a fancy hotels. Or is it better to move to the closer place on the 4th and stay there? Will anybody give me any advice please?
And I will be very happy if somebody driving to the festival can give me a ride from London. I’ve been a staff of an democratic school in Japan for 16 years and also have close relationship with a Summerhill based alternative school in the U.S. It would be great if I can communicate with somebody who are interested in my experience. Thank you! -

All participants are allowed to camp on site anytime after 18:00 on August 4th. We are considering having also a bus from the Saxmunum station late evening! You don t have to stay in Londom if you don t want to Kyoko

The firts scheduled session is at 13:00 but open space hasn t been registered yet, so a lot of nice things might come up sooner than that, keep watching this space https://summerhillfestival.com/programme/

Hi beautiful people attending the Festival! Does anyone have a free spot in their tent?
My name is Neven and I am originally from Croatia but working at a Democratic School Infinita in Germany. I started working two years ago and it was a dream come true. This will be my first live democratic education conference and I am super stoked! I attended the online only version of IDEC in 2020, and it was a blast, so I can’t imagine how awesome meeting in person will be!
In addition to sharing the costs of the tent, I am also a semi-professional magician. I’d love to entertain you and your friends with some magic if you are up for it 🙂
I am looking forward to your offers,
Neven-

Hi. Since I learned there won’t be a bus directly from the airport, I’m still trying to figure out what the bast way is. I have a Japanese app which shows all the possible transportations and fees when you put “from” and “to”. Is there any apps or site like that? I’m still wondering if I should spend a night in London or move to the site on the 4th. I thank you for your help in advance.

I am not aware of such an application for the UK (then again I am from Greece hahaha) If you arrive on time at the Saxmundham train station on Thursday 4/8 there is a bus that can take you to the festival site at 19:00

Dear participants, I would be interested to join the festival. I’m coming from Bruxelles in Belgium and I would like to know if by any chance someone else is coming from this city to share the trip to go there. I don’t have a car but I have got a driving licence and I can drive and share expenses. Or please let me know where to post an annoncement.

Thank you, Kasia.
I found a “Trainline” app. But this one looks good too. I’ll try to use both.Kyoko

Hi I am arriving from Sydney at Heathrow Airport early 5th (5:30 am landing)
I wondered if I could jump in a car with anyone leaving London this morning?
If not see you after the train! -

hi all!
i am going to spend a night in London and then taking the 9am Great Anglia train to Saxmundham from Liverpool Street Rail station, arriving close to 11am on the 5th.I just read, that at 11am a shuttle bus is going to the festival. What are your experiences with the raillines? are they often late or do i have a chance to get this shuttle bus?
On another note: Does anyone take the same train? I would be happy to have company. 🙂
Or is anyone else around 11am in Saxmundham and, in the case of me not getting the shuttle bus, could take me on a ride to the festival site or join me in walking there?Warmly, Dominik

Hi. I’m taking the same train from Liverpool street station. I’d like to accompany. How can I find you?’

Great! 🙂
I just sent you a private message with my phone number. Then we can talk about how to meet. I suggest finding a meeting point visible on a map and describing each other how we look like. 🙂

Hi. I’m on my way. My train from Liverpool street was delayed and I couldn’t catch the next one at Ipswich. So I was going to be at Saxmundham around 11:00 but will be about an hour late. I guess I have to wait for the next bus?
